Velleman PCSGU250 Review
4.0
I have a number of Oscilloscopes including an Instek 4 channel that I bought from TEquipment. I find myself using this one and another USB unit much more than the much higher cost others. Mostly I work on audio equipment, filters, crossovers, power supplies and amps. It works fine for audio frequencies. My first reason for buying it is that it was advertised to do BODE plots. It has its own freq generator. Turns out that it does BODE plots very well. The second reason is that it uses a mouse and keyboard. All oscilloscopes should have a mouse and be able to cast to a larger monitor. No more pressing tiny buttons a hundred times to invoke a function or move cursors. Just move the mouse. It is nice to be able to have all the parameters on the screen at the same time. The downside of the Velleman is that it is pretty slow, is slow to update and the software will hang occasionally. The upside is that it has a frequency generator with built in wave-forms and does spectrum analysis. It only comes with one probe and no BNC cable for the generator. It needs no power supply as it is powered from a USB port. At the discontinued price, it is an excellent unit for hobbyists and students.
