A grand old classic meter.
4.0
The Good: It's a Simpson, and pretty much the gold standard of analog multimeters. Plenty of ranges to cover almost any type of measurement imaginable. MIRRORED dial to eliminate parallax errors. Super accurate for an averaging type meter. The bad: With the roll-top case, this thing weighs almost six pounds. Not exactly "handy." Screw tip probes can be a challenge to insert into plugs and outlets. Yes, you can store the test leads and alligator clips in the bottom of the case. Barely. The Ugly: My 270 came with build quality issues that didn't affect the function of the meter and were easily remedied, but they made me question why I paid almost $400 for this meter. Guess they don't make 'em like they used to... All said and done, would I still recommend a 270? Absolutely, minus one star for the above mentioned build quality issues.
