Excellent Benchtop Power Supply

No regrets, I found this Siglent 3-channel linear PSU to be an excellent addition to my benchtop. It has an Intuitive interface, illuminated rubber toggle buttons, per-channel settings can be saved, a dial to adjust the per-channel voltage and amp settings. An appealing factor about the PSU, for me at least, was the dial knob for setting values. I find the dial much better to use than using a convoluted set of button punches and menu traveling to adjust a value. Output channels can be bridged for series and parallel use which is quite handy. The screen is well-lit and clear, the unit has been virtually silent which is a big plus for me. The entire PSU has a solid and well-built feel to it, with a carrying handle at the top. If you are looking for a basic and reliable linear PSU, with nice features for DIY use to professional use then this is an excellent offering from Siglent. As always, TEquipment is excellent to deal with, I paid for 3-day shipping, something I rarely do, and indeed, the PSU arrived in three days via Fed Ex.

I bought this for some product testing. Plus: Super cheap, UI is fine, levels are stable, has USB Negative: control interface is not well documented - the scpi commands over usbtmc listed in the docs do not match the operation - plus there are several HW versions and I got the old one (Perhaps the new one is better). On that note, the easy power software does work. Tips: 1. Install ni-visa and use the trace program while operating easy power to sniff out the true commands. 2. use py-visa if using python for automation 3. See siglent's programming tips for this (line delimiters and timings do not match scpi spec) 4. Here are the commands that worked for me: "*IDN?", "*SAV 1", "*RCL 1", "INSTrument CH1", "INSTrument?", "CH1:CURRent 00.300", "MEASure:CURRent? CH1", "CH1:VOLTage 05.000", "MEASure:VOLTage? CH1", "OUTPut CH1,ON", "OUTPut CH1,OFF", "OUTPut:TRACK 0", "SYSTem:ERRor?", "SYSTem:VERSion?", "SYSTem:STATus?" Having said all that, I would buy again.

Power supply the covers most needs

The power supply comes in a strong box that has a volume twice that of the device it contains. There is enough padding material inside to protect the power supply and a silica gel pouch to absorb humidity. The device comes with several cables: power cable, USB cable, fork/alligator red/black cables, and banana/alligator red/black cables. There is also a booklet with instructions inside. The moment you take it out of the box you realize it's a good product. It is heavy and the craftsmanship is excellent. The weight comes from the transformer inside the device and the all metal construction. According to some online evaluations there is a toroidal transformer inside. That reduces weight and improves efficiency. It does not have many buttons and the dial is smooth. You don't need the manual to start operating the controls. Everything is basic but there is enough voltage and current output for the majority of your everyday applications. Series mode, parallel mode and the fixed voltages switch are all welcome features. The manual explains how to use the downloaded software to control the device through a computer (Windows only). All in all I find nothing to complain about.
