Siglent SDS2104X Plus - 100 MHz / 4 Channel Digital Oscilloscope

Modern design, good features, price your options in

5.0

Plenty of reviews around, just some pro/con items I considered: Compact case and a nice, big, bright screen. The UI is a mix of physical controls and touch screen. It works, but sometimes it is a bit annoying not having a button to pop quickly. The UI is well presented very responsive. The unit will take a USB pointing device and I have found a trackball very handy. The USB ports will also power your diff and current probes. There is no video out, but there is a highly functional web interface to bring the display to a remote screen. You can hear the fan in a quiet lab, but it is low-pitch and it just becomes background. The noise floor is low for you analog types. Can’t find sample averaging under the Acquire menu? It is under the Math menu and you are limited to two channels. The value proposition: In the base configurations, the price is OK. If you find a bundle with your features, go for it. If you plan to price in options, it is worth looking at some of the other TEquipment offerings to see if they possibly also meet your needs at more aggressive price point. In the 100-200MHz range, the other Siglents and the Instek MSO 2000 series among others might be viable alternatives. At the high end of the scope’s bandwidth, consider the Siglent 5000 series (5 GSa/s) as a base --they are very nice scopes. Add new probes to your costs if upgrading your 2000X series bandwidth, too, no freebie full MHz probes here. Not a big fan of the PP215 probes anyway, good response curve, but non-replaceable, dull, tapered tip. Fortunately, TEquipment has a wide selection of probes if needed. But do I like the scope? Overall yes, a lot, I use it every day.
