Instek GPM-8213 Digital Power Meter

don't be fooled, the plastic isn't white. the photos are misleading

if you don't mind yellow devices or misleading photos, you can ignore my review, as the device itself is probably great in terms of functionality. I haven't even powered it on, as what I saw in the photos and what arrived are not the same thing. I bought it because it looked white in the photos, but in reality, it's yellow. it looks like the same old plastic that turns yellow from UV exposure, and if you look at any used units of this model online, you'll see they're all very yellow, which pretty much confirms it. I was hoping that they switched to white plastic that doesn't turn yellow, but apparently the photo was just white balanced in a misleading manner. I'm assuming it was a photo from instek, but either way, it's not how it looks, so buyer beware. and it might sound pedantic to some people, but why do companies still bother using this plastic. we've known it turns yellow for what, half a century now? and people in 2023 are still using it? they don't even need to update their molds; they just need to use better plastic. and i would have zero issue with it using that yellowing plastic if the photos were honest and reflected this, but unfortunately, they're misleading. if their site doesn't eat the URL, here's a photo I took where I white balanced it with a gray card in Lightroom, then put it side by side with the screenshot of this page: https://imgur.com/a/SbM1zQ9
