Fluke 289 - True RMS Data Logging Multimeter with TrendCapture

Fluke 289 a few issues off the line

3.0

I'm a loyal Fluke user since the 1980s. Even though it's a very mature instrument, the 289 hit all of my requirements. The meter I received had some annoying issues and needed to be returned. TE Equipment was nothing short of outstanding in the way they handled it. Three issues were as follows: Display was crooked inside the meter. Dust behind the display lens, and you may not believe this, the probe ends had some kind of barely conductive residue that made continuity simply intermittent at best. I had a similar problem years ago on another product and cleaned the probes with scotch-brite and they worked fine. TE took the ball and sent me a new meter without issue. A few pros: Compared to the equivalent Keysight, the 289 has very easy and intuitive feature selection. It's fast and as accurate as advertised and it's easily going to be a 30 year lifespan meter. The only small annoyance is the display is definitely not as crisp as the pictures. That said, it quickly grew on me and I love the amount of information that rivals my bench meter. In short, you will get used to it and the pros far outweigh the cons. When fast updating there is a bit of ghosting but it really doesn't matter when you really need to catch thing, the min/max statistics are perfect.
