FLIR Breach PTQ136 - Worth it.

A great, handheld thermal imager. No magnification, so you can walk around a building, on trails, etc and not trip over everything. Lots of different color options for the views, but I'm old fashioned and like the white hot or black hot best. The size of the unit itself is TINY, it almost looks like a toy when you first take it out of the box. Comes with a nice nylon carrying case with MOLLE straps on the back to connect it to your gear. This is more of a "backyard and immediate area" imager than "wow, see that guy walking four blocks away?" kind. Compared to bigger (and more expensive) scopes it's range is a bit limited. Within about the length of a football field you could identify a target as a person; beyond that and you'll most likely see that."something" is generating heat but have a hard time identifying it. I'm happy with it. It's so small I can just chuck it in my pocket and forget about it, and it will be there when I need it. I've been using "Surefire" brand CR123 lithium batteries and haven't had any power problems or short working times. If you get one, don't forget to register it with FLIR on their website; it's easy and I believe it doubles the warranty time. Have fun!

worked for two days, compass would never calibrate,customer service #s are all redirected to Bogota, Columbia (no joke) over a week later still no reply to emails /calls to FLIR on line store ...DO NOT PURCHASE! you are on your own

FLIR Breach PTQ136, Own the Night.

I own a FLIR Scout TK, a great baseline thermal instrument that provides 50 meter security. With that said, based on what learn from their baseline instrument, I purchased FLIR's Breach PTQ136 for increased resolution and a refresh rate that provides user the capability to detect/identify human size target silhouette out to approximately 150 meters, as well as the flexibility to mount on Wendy pump helmet or place in pocket until time to use by hand . This small unit is worth the cost. TE customer service was excellent, I am very happy with purchase.

This is a nice size and effective product. Its rang is not as far as I would like it to be but still reaches out about 300 yards. I will fit in your pocket for easy usage.
