The Uei DL389 is a true RMS clamp meter with a dual display and both auto ranging and manual capability. The DL389 features a detachable current clamp head and has a variety of functions, including capacitance, frequency, duty cycle and data hold. This meter is backed by a three year warranty. Average-responding are widely used and work well for linear electrical loads. However, when the loads are nonlinear, like those of an adjustable-frequency drive, or semiconductors, they require the accuracy of a True RMS meter to correctly measure the distorted sign-waves. In these situations, a True RMS meter will provide a correct reading on the distorted wave-form where an average-responding meter may result in error readings up to 40%. There are several clamps meters in this family. The chart below provides an overview of each.
