About

Triplett was founded in 1904 by Ray Triplett when he was only 19 years old. The company was owned by the Triplett family for almost 80 years until it was sold in 1983. Over the years the company produced many great and revolutionary instruments including Ray Triplett's first electrical test meter called the "Hot Wire" meter, the Model 201 tube tester, the 1200 series Radio Tuning Tester, and the Model 310 analog multimeter. The Model 310 is perhaps Triplett's greatest instrument as it was first produced in 1955 and is still in production and in demand today.

Today Triplett produces instruments for modern applications as well. Standard and custom instruments for mining, railroad, and telecomm are the company's primary products. These include rail testers, video inspection cameras, a range of electrical test equipment, cable tracers and testers, and specialty instruments.

Triplett owns subsidiary Byte Brothers. Byte Brothers manufactures solely telecomm and datacomm test instruments. Triplett itself is owned today by Jewell Instruments. Jewell specializes in sensors & controls, meters for avionics, and test equipment. Interestingly, Triplett founder Ray Triplett worked for Jewell briefly in 1903 before starting his own company. So, you might say that Triplett is still in the family. Regardless, Jewell's manufacturing power along with Triplett's experience make the two a powerful team in the test equipment market.
