A Great upgrade from a WESD51

My previous soldering station was a Weller WESD51. The connection between the grip/cable and the hot bits has gotten loose and regularly needs to be pressed back into place.
I got this iron for a few reasons; better build quality, increased thermal capacity, and better ergonomics. It has met or exceeded my expectations in all categories.
Build quality: This thing is built like a tank. The Weller looks like toy in comparison. Extra credit for being US made.
Thermal capacity: More wattage and a modern tip/heater/sensor design means it's better at dumping out heat when needed. Additionally it heats up an order of magnitude quicker than the Weller.
Ergonomics: The grip to tip distance is also vastly better than the Weller. Soldering feels like using a pen rather than a pair of chop sticks. Additionally the handle fits my hand well, stays cool and has a good amount of texture to provide grip exactly where it's needed and no more.
One other nice feature is that the slots in the base station/brains allowed me to more cleanly hang it on the underside of my bench without resorting janky solutions like metal strapping or other wonky attachment methods.

I purchased this because I liked the clean UI of the Pace ST-50 stations in the electronics lab at my school. The ADS200 seems like more of a hobbyist level version of the same station, but it is more than adequate for my needs. I really like the cartridge-style tips, and they seem to heat up quickly. Unlike some other stations the tips are pretty inexpensive, and apparently last a long time. I may attempt to implement my own instant setback tool stand, but for now the time-delayed setback will work fine. All in all, very happy with my purchase.

No Tips As Of Yet

I would love to write a review for this product, however, I have not received the tips for the station as of yet. It has been 2 months since the order was placed. The station arrived and looks nice. I now have an estimated ship date on the tips as 6/29/18. The last ship date I had on the tips was 5/27/18. Apparently the manufacturer is having production issues with the tips. If I ever get everything I ordered, I will write a full review.

Shortly after Pace released the ADS200 station, it was discovered that there was a manufacturing defect in a small percentage of tips in the 1130 and 1131 series. To ensure all products received by customers would meet Pace’s standards, the manufacturer stopped all shipments once the issue was identified, and did not resume until the issue had been fixed. This unfortunately took several weeks, however, the issue has been rectified and production has resumed. Pace is a leading manufacturer in the soldering industry and wanted to ensure all products received by customers are of the highest quality.

Most soldering station manufacturers ship product with a tip, PACE DOES NOT! I ordered 4 tips when I ordered the soldering station they have yet to arrive. So PACE neither ships tips with the station nor can they supply them to distributors so the can supply their customers! I have lost all interest and enthusiasm for this product that I’ve had for three weeks and cannot use. Hopefully the distributer can process a return quicker than they can supply the complete product.
