I've never been more disappointed in a purchase in my life. Previously I owned a Fluke 189, and I was exceptionally happy with it. It still works, but the stand that props it up broke and it wasn't really usable anymore. So I thought I'd update to the current flagship model. Spent quite a bit extra to get the bluetooth module and FVF Forms software. Unfortunately it's just not usable. It takes a LONG time to turn on, and turns itself off quickly, so I have to wait to turn it on the next time I want to take a reading. It has a noticeable lag when testing continuity - not as bad as the Keysight U1273A, but still enough to make me question if I have a good connection. Measuring resistance is really disappointing - it takes 2 seconds to go through the multiple ranges in the autoranging, and again, it's just not worth it - I get better performance out of a 117, so that's what I'm using instead of my new $800 yellow paperweight. Wanna measure continuity or diodes? It's now a many-step process involving both the dial and push button menus to get to either. I still haven't figured out how to enable graphing voltage/current measurement. I'm sure if I read the manual I could figure out how to do it, but it's entirely non-intuitive. All in all, if I could undo this purchase, I would. Shame on you, Fluke! You're better than this! Bryan Thompson bryan@batee.com

The Fluke 289 is very versatile. However, the most important thing for me is the ability to read the meter easily while inside of a panel. Some meter displays are hard to read unless you have them right in front of you, but the Fluke 289 be read from a distance and at an angle.

I barely can hold it with one hand, but then the size gets compensated with all the options available. The connection using the mobile phone works great, the measurements are very accurate, the screen a little bit glossy but with the back light looks ok.

The meter itself works as expected for a high end DMM. I was quite surprised it could pick up the EMF from just putting my fingers over the probe jacks on the meter. That being said there was a quite a bit of difficulty with the IR device. It never worked right out of the box and would not connect with my samsung device. This is a common problem from what I have read. The integration was a big factor in my purchase especially for making reports for school work. After leaving an inconclusive review on the google play app store Fluke contaced me by email and by phone to help resolve the issue. After deciding it is the IR device a new one was recieved just last week and it works perfectly now. I am quite pleased with it now even though it was a rough start.
