The FLIR MR40 is a pocket-portable, rugged 2-pin, single-scale moisture meter with an integrated flashlight for wood and common building materials – ideal for builders, building inspectors, remodelers, moisture remediation technicians, pest control professionals, and residential roofing and flooring contractors. Providing reliable and accurate measurements offered at a highly affordable price point, MR40 is a quick and easy-to-use tool to find and quantify moisture content.

When used in combination with a thermal camera, MR40 can help confirm whether a cold spot in a thermal image is moisture, and measure the severity of the problem.

FLIR VP50 Advanced Non-Contact Voltage Detector & Worklight

The FLIR VP50 is a tough, CAT IV-rated Non-Contact Voltage Detector featuring a combination of alerts – tactile vibration, red LED alarms, a powerful LED flashlight and versatile voltage sensitivities. We engineered the FLIR VP50 to reliably detect voltages on the latest tamperproof outlets and electrical systems that are quickly becoming the construction standard. You have many choices in the marketplace when it comes to selecting a non-contact voltage (NCV) detector. Often referred to as a “voltage pen,” “test pen,” or “voltage stick,” the NCV detector has become an essential tool for first-pass detection of live wiring and active circuits at the job-site before work is performed. With the VP50 you can quickly and safely check for voltage prior to attaching a multimeter's test leads to a device or outlet.

The VP50 Non-Contact Voltage Detector & Worklight, was designed to meet the high standards and innovation FLIR is known for. The rugged CAT IV-rated detector features a reinforced case and durable buttons to survive rough handling. With a brightly illuminated detector tip, voltage detection is easier in dark electrical cabinets or in concealed, hard to view areas. When voltage is detected, the user is alerted with a bright red flashing LED as well as a vibration alarm ensuring that the user is alerted even in noisy environments.

The built-in super-bright LED worklight comes in handy to illuminate poorly-lit work areas while testing. This built-in light not only reduces clutter in your toolbox, it adds confidence when performing visual inspections (for wear, pitting, dirt, corrosion and dust) and makes it easier to read faded labels and other markings, especially at unfamiliar job sites. For better testing accuracy, users can switch between two voltage ranges. The primary range is useful for all major industrial, commercial and residential testing. A second, lower voltage range detects down to 24 VAC. This low voltage range is useful for testing a wide array of low voltage systems including: HVAC thermostats and dampers, security, CCTV, heaters, safety relays, stacklights/indicating light systems, plant-wide audible signaling systems, and irrigation systems. For peace of mind, FLIR backs up this durable NCV detector with a limited lifetime warranty.

Not at all! Thermal sensor design is evolving all the time, like the cameras on your phone. The Flir One Pro has a great sensor, better than some stand alone models.

The Flir One Pro is a great and handy tool for technicians, but it doesn''t meet all challenges you may face. You have to use a phone or tablet, which aren''t always available, and the Flir One Pro has lower sensitivity than some full featured stand-alone cameras. Additionally, tThe Flir One Pro, like your phone, probably isn''t ruggedized or drop rated.

No, not all adapters are compatible. Some adapters only carry power, where others are not designed to allow a phone to act as a host, instead of a device. This is capability is called OTG, or USB on the go.

I am a Lineman for a Power Company. I have used the FLIR VP50 for years as a tool to determine if the power line is energized. With this tool it can be used from a safe distance. You can be walking near a overhead power line and detect that it is on. This is not a replacement for proper tools and procedures, but will give you a quick reference when running a Primary line outage. We always, always test with other means before we go hands on. A no indication situation does not indicate the power is off, but is a extremely quick for test, especially in the middle of the night while running several miles of line. The FLIR VP50 will also give indication of a live power line through the windshield of a truck while passing under a live line. Under No circumstances would you ever depend on this method for your safety, but saves a lot of time and driving to get several people back in lights.

I use my FlirVP50; often in my troubleshooting. Having to deal with low voltage often , It is nice to know In don’t have to pull out my heavy duty tester to check for voltage . Excellent for troubleshooting thermostat wires.

I have many other FLIR products and some of their IR cameras. I appreciate the light on the end of this unit, it is bright and works well especially in tight areas. The High setting is VERY sensitive, often picking up stray voltage a foot away, so I find I don't use it often. It seems durable and comes with a lifetime warranty from FLIR, can't go wrong with the price.
