Whether you need an amp clamp for HVAC, general electrical or motor testing applications, the AMP-310 Clamp Meter, with its large backlit display, has the features you need. HVAC technicians will find the temperature and capacitance measurements they need plus DC Microamps for testing flame sensors. It also had core motor testing capabilities such as motor rotation, 3-phase sequence testing, and inrush current measurement for motor start-up monitoring. The low pass filter allows you to accurately measure current and voltage on variable frequency drives. The Amp-Tip function allows for precise measurement of current down to the tenth of an Amp, enabling accurate current measurement of both large and small diameter wires. Not for hvac

This meter is actually really nice.The problem is with the thermometer. Not accurate at all and as an hvac tech accurate temperature readings are crucial. Four to five degrees off and slow does not cut it. So my brand new amprobe sits in a drawer somewhere in the back of my van.

Poor Quality LCD Display

I have been in the HVAC business for 15 years and only use high quality tools. I have owned many different electrical meters over the years and have always wanted to try an Amprobe product. So when I saw the Amp-300 series I decided to give the 310 a try. When I called around to purchase one I found that every distributor was out of stock. So I called amprobe to inquire on the availability and the female representative absolutely Refused to tell me whether they were available or on back order. But against my better judgement I went ahead and reserved one through a very reputable online distributor. It took a few weeks to get the meter but once i opened the package I was pleasantly surprised at how good the meter actually felt in my hand. Extremely lightweight with a rubberized feel and very solid construction. But when I turn the meter on I was very disappointed to see the poor quality of LCD display that was used. When looking straight at the display the contrast is extremely low and difficult to see and the poor quality backlight makes it even worse. There also seemed to be an issue with the Hz function through the amp clamp not working. When I called amprobe to discuss these issues I experienced the poorest quality customer service EVER! No one in tech. support was even familiar with the model number, which i had to repeat numerous times. And when transfered to Cust. Serv. to discuss warranty return the female represenative was so unwilling to help i wandered if she even worked for Amprobe. All they wanted to do was pass the buck back to the distributor. They did not care that i was a customer at all and refused to offer any solution what so ever! Therefore i can not recommend this product, or any othe from Amprobe. Stick with companies like Fieldpiece and Uei who make quality products and stand behind them with knowledge and superior customer service.
