B&K Precision Gas Detection

Gas detection equipment sense the presence of one or more gases near the detector. Gas detection is used in a variety of industries and has a number of applications.

For dangerous gases, gas detectors will have audible and visible alarms. Fixed mount units would include relays to trip equipment, close valves, etc. to return to safe conditions.

Today’s gas detectors can have multiple gas detectors for detection of several gases. Knowledge of the application and desired gases is key in model selection.

Frequent calibration is also important. Gas detectors drift, so most manufacturers recommend monthly calibrations or at least calibration checks. Make sure to read and follow the manufacturer instructions with each instrument.

Types of Gas Detection

  • Carbon Monoxide Gas Detection. CO Meters detect dangerous Carbon Monoxide levels

  • Combustible and flammable gases
  • Toxic gases
  • VOC’s – Volatile organic compounds can be both combustible and toxic
  • Oxygen concentration/content for confined space entry
  • Combustion gases for optimizing efficiency and reducing environmental emissions
  • Refrigerant gas leak detection

Combustion Analyzers

Combustion Analyzers are a special type of gas detection equipment. They are is ideal for professionals concerned about combustion efficiency, environmental compliance, or both. It enables plant maintenance engineers and managers, industrial boiler/furnace service technicians, energy coordinators, compliance officers, environmental auditors and safety managers ensure that industrial equipment is burning efficiently while environmental regulations are being met.
