Handy and great value

This little function generator has lots of features in a small easy to use package. Will I use arbitrary waveforms or modulated waveforms? not right now, but I didn't see the need for a dual tone generator until a DTMF project hit my to do list. It was great to have that capability without having to build a dedicated DTMF generator (just to test the decoder). The generator is easy to use and fairly intuitive. The touch screen works well. The rotary control is useful to quickly change values without having to enter them directly from the pop up menu. Entering numbers directly from the pop up is not difficult and I never had an issue with "fat fingers" causing an entry error. I found the 10 user presets to be very useful although I was disappointed to find a software bug with recall. It does not appear that it correctly recalls the DC offset so for example if you have a waveform you saved as unipolar, it is recalled as a bipolar waveform and you have to go into the menu to restore the correct setting (by selecting and then deselecting offset adjust). That is bad enough but it is more annoying that the user interface shows that it DID correctly recall the offset even though that was not applied ( a silent failure). I agree with the criticism about the number of digits displayed for each parameter. I had to disable the comma separator an replace it with a space to make it more readable. For most uses it is redundant to have a string of 6 zeros trailing the value that you actually set. Despite these shortcomings if you are looking for a basic function generator it is a great choice. It does a great job of basic functions and has much more capability on top of that.

Good but suffers from Rigol-itus

Perfectly good little sig gen, however user interface could do with a little work. The buttons are there, the tough screen is there but there is no thought about how these are used together. Also, too many "0"s on the display - not sure I need 1e-6 of a Hz. Decimal vs 1000s separator is not clear. However, great bang for your buck.
