Description
The Series 2000 provides today's engineer and technician with more test and measurement capabilities in a handheld instrument. These extremely versatile meters include standard DMM functions in addition to a frequency counter, capacitance meter, and intermittent and pulse detector. The Model 2030 features higher accuracy in DC and resistance measuring modes. The large digits are easy to see and the unique Wavetek menu system prompts the user with available features.
True RMS (AC or AC+DC) and average responding measurements
The 2020 and 2030 allow the true RMS value of an input to be displayed. This feature is highly desirable for engineers and technicians working with signals that contain harmonics from switching power supplies or UPSs. Either the AC component or both the AC+DC components can be read by selecting the desired function, or deselect true RMS measuring and the meter will read average responding measurements. Using all three measurements will assist in the detection of harmonics. This feature is typically found in much more expensive bench meters.
Analog/Digital Display
The extra large liquid crystal display shows necessary user information for fast, easy operation; and the 4 digit, 10,000 count display provides added resolution. Special features are displayed along the top of the LCD and quickly indicate ON/OFF status. The 41 segment bar graph updates 20 times per second, which is good for peaking and pulling as well as indicating the presence of noise or undesired signals on an input.
Probe Hold
Probe Hold automatically records a stable input signal and displays it from memory after the probes have been removed. A stable reading is acknowledged with a tone, then displayed in the LCD.
Auto Min/MaxTM
Used as a simple datalogging device, this feature records the maximum and minimum input levels. Through the MENU system, it will display the minimum, maximum, maximum minus the minimum, and two types of averages, true and rolling. Auto Min/Max remains in the auto-ranging mode for the highest possible resolution. Competitive models that range lock severely limit the function?s usable range.
Auto Rel TM (Relative mode) remembers an input and displays the difference of subsequent inputs. It remains in full autoranging mode for best resolution and widest possible input range. Also, it zeros out test lead resistance for increased accuracy of low ohm (0.01 resolution) measurements.
Fault Finder TM Intermittent Detector emits a variable tone that responds quickly to changing inputs. Intermittents are quickly identified by a distinctive sound; this allows for very easy peaking and nulling of circuits and location of broken wires and intermittent connectors.
Peak Hold
Capture input levels as short as 1ms with Peak Hold. Ideal for measuring events such as current surge and voltage spikes. Monitor a power line and reveal problem occurrences.
Safety Alerts
Numerous alerts and signals have been included for safe meter operation. Incorrect Input Warning alerts visually and audibly when a probe is in the current jack and a noncurrent function is selected. Dangerous Voltage Alert indicates inputs more than 25 volts with two tones and a special LCD annunciator. Low Battery Cutoff blanks the LCD to ensure the meter never displays an incorrect reading due to low battery voltage.
Protective Holsters
Protects meter from accidental drops. Includes a twoposition tilt stand and Flex-StrapTM for vertical hanging from any location.
