The Rigol USB-GPIB Adapter is used for any Rigol instrument with USB Host interface but without build in GPIB interface (for example the DS1000 series oscillosopes) to connect it to a GPIB controller. It is a module that expands a Rigol instrument without GPIB interface by the GPIB interface and enables the Rigol instrument to work easier through it.
Connect the USB interface of the adapter to the USB Host interface of the Rigol instrument and connect the GPIB interface of the adapter to the GPIB controller.
Please note: This adapter is used for the Rigol USB Host interface and connects to the GPIB bus controller. It cannot connect reverse. Please pay attention to the connection method.

Insufficient buffer
1.0
The buffer in the USB-GPIB interface does not support trace data transfer in ascii format because the internal buffer memory is not big enough. Rigol support advised trace transfer be done in binary mode. This works, but the binary format is inconvenient. They have no plans to increased the buffer size.

Worked flawlessly with LabView
5.0
I worked with 3 different USB to GPIB interfaces on a development project for our company. This unit was the only one that worked with all our code. The other interfaces had issues with Labview in some instances and interfered with other USB to Serial applications running simultaneously. This cable had everything we needed without any other coding issues.
