2 years and still going strong, the optional serial decoding makes life so much simpler, really great value for money.
Really wished I took the 4 channel version for doing more complex decoding.

Great scope!!
4.0
The scope is really nice. Feels like a good, solid, well built scope. I don't like the fan noise however. All of the remote commands seem to work as they should and has a good amount of interface options. I just wish some of the decoding options were included with the scope. But it is still a great value compared to a Tek or Agilent.

Very good oscilloscope with lots of possibilities
4.0
This is my experience after owning the scope four weeks. There are numerous settings available and measurements which can be done. It takes several hours to check them all out, unfortunately this time is deducted from the 2000 minutes of free options, it is not 2000 minutes when using an option, as it simply counts the "on" time of the scope. I experimented a little with the RS232 decoding option by sending 6 to 8 characters at a time, however I could only get as a maximum the last two characters decoded, as the screen is filled with more than two, it will of course show the wave forms, but not the decoding anymore.Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
My equipment is placed on a shelf about 1 1/2 ft above the workbench (a very common installation) and with that setup I noticed that the display really washes out quite a lot when looking to it from below sitting on a chair. Viewed from above everything is fine. This is something Rigol really should look at in the future by using a better display. That said, this scope is an amazing value for the possibilities it provides and I love working with it.

Great value for the price
4.0
This scope is really nice. I especially like the bus decoding feature for RS232, SPI and I2C.
Although I bought the scope for personal use, I brought it with me to work the last time I had to debug a circuit.
What is an advantage to a logic analyzer is that you can see whether something is wrong with the signal, like ringing or that kind of stuff. A logic analyzer can't show you this.
Of course a logic analyzer is still helpful if you need to watch more than 2 channels, but if you're not sure whether your problem is "analog" or "digital", then the scope is the right choice.
The Firmware could need some improvement at some places (this gives -1 star). For example the decoding only works properly in "stop" mode, but the decoded symbols are also shown in run mode. So either switch of the decoded symbols in run mode, or fix decoding in run mode. Either shouldn't be too difficult.
The PC software (another -0.5 star) could also be a little bit better. But in the EEVBlog Forum a user published a nice PC Tool to transfer data and take screenshots.
The screen is good. The noise is okay, it could be a bit quieter. However I know many more expensive measurement gear which is much louder than this one.
Overall I can recommend the device. I really enjoy it.

Great Midrange Scope
4.0
Possibly the best midrange scope on the market. Accurate, high-bandwidth, has a handy Help feature, and has a surprising number of useful triggering modes. UI is easy to use. Included probes are fairly high quality. Image capture and data export are difficult to use.
Downloadable modules add a protocol sniffer, increased bandwidth, memory depth, etc. If you do some searching, you can find scripts to unlock these features for free. Shh, don't tell!

Rigol DS2072A
4.0
I've given this device four stars simply because I haven't had enough time to really dig into it and work with it.
I chose this unit because it had many of the features I liked over the less expensive models. I'm working with tube amplifiers and other so-called antique equipment, so my needs are not the cutting edge for equipment. Take that as you will, this unit is solidly constructed. While it does not have an incredibly high-end feel that you would expect from a premium scientific device, it does have solid controls that respond well. I like that it is constructed adequately and does not take up that much space on my bench.
There is a learning curve with a device of this type. It has many, many functions and capabilities that are explained in the electronic documentation that comes with the unit.
On the tests that I've conducted and the minor work that I've done with it so far, the measurements were accurate. What more can a person ask for? It's a solid unit with a ton of functions and capabilities at a price that's under $1000. I'm happy with the purchase and have no problem recommending it to someone in the market.
Also, Tequipment shipped it quickly and with no hassle. So stop reading this and just buy the thing already - you'll be happy you did.
