Wild Wind Tamer System
In most parts of the world, the weather can have a major influence on your airtightness testing process when high winds interfere with your measurements. If your room pressure gauge fluctuates more than 1 Pa due to strong winds, the Wild Wind Tamer wind damping system can reduce the fluctuations. The resistive capacitive time constants of the capillary tubes in the box are balanced to decrease pressure swings due to strong wind to virtually zero!
Instructions:
1. All tubes must be attached exactly as marked as they are paired with different length capillary tubes in the box to achieve an exact balance.
2. Plug the RED tube from the back of the panel onto the connecter marked House/Gauge on the front of the capillary box.
If the fluctuation isn't too bad, try this: Place the Wild Wind Tamer system with all tubes connected in a box and close it up. The box must be on the opposite side of the doorway from the pressure gauges and away from the air blast of the door fan and the wind. This is very quick and often will slow fluctuations sufficiently, however this method is not as accurate.
3. Hang the ends of red tubes with 3" x 5" card attached about 4 ft. up and as close as possible to the center of all 4 exterior walls. Hang the 50 ft. tube on the nearest wall, 100 ft. tubes on the sides exactly as marked to 4 of the 5 connectors on the front of the capillary tank.
4. Observe the gauges. If still fluctuating, try baffling the tube ends with cardbord or tape to stop air movement at the end of the tube. DO NOT seal the tube ends.
5. Observe the gauge needle for at least 30 seconds with the blowers off to ensure wind effects are understood, then turn on the blower to establish the required pressure. Again, observe for at least 30 seconds.
6. Some experimentation may be necessary to get the best gauge readings.
