Fiber optic network bids and Requests For Quote (RFQ) often have specified
cabling standards (such as fiber length) that the network installer must follow
during the installation, since adherence to these standards ensures the quality of the
installation and guarantees that the network will perform as it was designed. The
certification of a network installation often requires hard-copy documentation as proof of
adherence to standards. The WaveTester/WaveSource FTTH Test Kit contains the tools necessary
for measuring optical loss in fiber optic networks using the ITU G.983.3, the standard used
for Fiber To The Home (FTTH) networks.
The WaveTester optical power meter is multimode and singlemode ready, and
can store reference values for all wavelengths used for optical loss
measurements. The values of up to 200 fiber runs may be stored and downloaded
to a PC for fiber certification report generation using our OWL Reporter software (included)
.The WaveSource FTTH fiber optic light source contains the three wavelengths (1310, 1490,
and 1550 nm) required by the ITU G.983.3 FTTH standard in a single unit, designed for accurate
testing and certification of FTTH networks.
The WaveSource FTTH has a built-in auto-wavelength switching protocol designed to synchronize
the wavelength of the WaveTester with the current output wavelength. that are temperature-stabilized
for accurate measurements. Two connector options are available (ST or SC). The auto-test functions stores
up to 200 data points, and a RS-232 interface allows for continuous data logging, report printing,
or data downloading.Measurement modes include absolute (for optical power) or relative (for optical loss)
