Signal generators generally have a short list of key attributes:
Key features in function generators are AM/FM modulation capabilities, internal linear and logarithmic sweep, distortion and attenuators with acceptable range and accuracy. Synthesized signal generators have a longer list including frequency range, resolution and stability as well as time base characteristics. Output level and flatness along with attenuator range and accuracy and output purity as evidenced by SSB characteristics are indicators of quality. Finally modulation modes, switching speed and computer interface round out the list. |
