  Description

The New WaveSurfer Oscilloscope - It’s an Original
From its large 10.4" LCD touch screen to its space-saving small footprint, the new WaveSurfer DSO is a radical rethinking of the basic bench scope. It breaks the rules of conventional scope design to deliver dramatically improved signal viewing, 100X the capture time, and up-to-the minute connectivity capabilities. But more importantly, it’s designed for the way you like to work - big, sharp images of your signal, a simple, easy-to-use interface and a strong tool set for testing and debugging. Bottom line? It’s not only a great fit for your bench, it’s a perfect match for your budget.

Long capture time
Large screens show the detail - if you can capture it. The WaveSurfer oscilloscope provides all the detail you need by delivering more than 100X the capture time at full sample rate compared to other oscilloscopes in its class. It effectively eliminates the trade-off between high sample rate and long capture time. This high sample rate is especially important when capturing a mix of signals that are spaced widely apart in time or when you require a long pre-trigger time. This means that the WaveSurfer oscilloscope beats short memory scopes when it comes to the debugging of common circuit problems like clock/data issues and timing errors.

Communicate all the ways you want
Your list of connectivity options is extensive - from the front mounted USB port for your memory stick to the standard 10/100Base-T Ethernet port. You can document your work and communicate effectively with your group. Whether you want to save data to the oscilloscope’s hard drive, a network drive, email other engineers or send images to the printer, the WaveSurfer oscilloscope gives you the flexibility to manage your communications easily and effectively.

Lab WS311 - Small Footprint, Large Display
The Advantages Are Numerous
LeCroy's WaveSurfer oscilloscope offers a small footprint and the largest display in its price class. The figure on the back side of this page is the real size of the display. The 10.4 inch (26.4 cm) diagonal TFT-LCD display offers a high contrast ratio and excellent viewing angle. You might ask the question; "Why is a large display so important?" There are several answers to that question.

Lab WS207 - Capture Time
Long Capture Time At Maximum Sample Rate Yields Better Measurements
Capture time, the usable signal duration shown on an oscilloscope screen, is related to the scope's maximum sampling rate and the length of the acquisition memory. LeCroy's WaveSurfer oscilloscope has a 250 kpoint per channel acquisition memory which, in two channel mode, provides 100 times the capture time at its maximum sampling rate compared to a similar scope which only offers a 10 kpoint memory. For example, WaveSurfer provides up to 200 µs capture at its maximum sampling rate of 2 Gigasamples per second (GS/s) compared with only a 2 µs capture time for a scope with only a 10 kpoint acquisition memory.

Lab WS817 - Direct Ethernet Connection
The Advantages Are Numerous
LeCroy's WaveSurfer oscilloscope is easily controlled via a built-in Ethernet connection. This port can be used for a connection to a local area network or for a direct connection to a personal computer. Since WaveSurfer uses standard Windows XP connectivity tools, setup is very fast and automatic. LeCroy supplies a full featured interface and control program called ScopeExplorer that provides all the tools necessary to interface to and control the oscilloscope. ScopeExplorer can be downloaded free of charge here.
