Fluke Series II to Series III Meter Conversion Guide
|
This handy guide is designed to help you transition from the Fluke Series II digital multimeters to the new Fluke Series III digital multimeters.
About your new Series III meter:
This meter has been designed to comply with a new standard established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The IEC-1010-1
standard categorizes electrical environments based on possible overvoltage spikes. The components and case of this meter have been designed with adequate spacing and
clearance to withstand these overvoltage spikes and protect the user from electric shock and possible arc blasts.

Selecting a new Series III meter:
To select the new 70 or 20 Series III meter that is best suited to the intended environment, first use the category diagram below to determine the
appropriate category. On the conversion table below, find the row which lists the 70 or 20 Series II meter to be upgraded and read across the table to the previously-selected IEC 1010-1 category. The meter(s)
listed in this section of the table are the recommended Series III replacements. The voltage rating for the meter in each category is shown in the parentheses. For example, if the intended environment is CAT II,
and you wish to upgrade a 77-II, the proper selection is the 77-III, rated up to 1000V.
