HVAC/R Clamp Meter with Temperature and Capacitance - A Value but Not the “Little Brother” - model SC76
Calling the SC76 the “little brother” of the SC77 is unfair. The SC76 also has most parameters for electrical and thermal HVAC/R testing in one meter. It includes a host of safety features like a high-voltage LED and beeper, a continuity warning, push button non-contact voltage (NCV), a lead holder with detachable leads and alligator probe tips for easy one-handed testing, and more. As far as ranges go, it too has temperature, capacitance, microamps DC for flame diode tests, and everyday electrical ranges for HVAC/R. Many technicians tell us they enjoy the choice between manual and auto-ranging. It’s a lower priced all-in-one clamp meter for technicians who don’t need the backlight or True RMS functions. It’s a rugged workhorse you can count on to get the job done easier, faster, and more safely.
How Does it Work?
The SC76 is an all-in-one DMM that with a dedicated amp clamp. Use the NCV button to determine whether on not a wire or circuit is live. The high-voltage indicators alert you when hooking up to 30V or more, while the continuity indicators tell you if a circuit is open or closed. Operation of the SC76 is easy. Simply select a range and test Use annual ranging to make you think about what you’re hooking up to or the added convenience and speed of auto-ranging. The display automatically shows you the appropriate range for the parameter being tested on the large LCD, An “OL” message warns you that the test is out of range for the meter.
For DC voltage, set the meter to the VDC parameter instead of VAC as shown below. For all ranges and functions choose a range just above the value you expect. In auto ranging mode the display will automatically change to accommodate the parameter being tested. If display reads "OL" (overload), select a higher range. If display shows less than three numbers, select a lower range for better resolution.
The SC76 is a rugged HVAC/R meter through and through. It’s a natural fit in your hand; it feels solid and has a bit of balanced weight to it. Add to that virtually every electrical parameter you need for HVAC/R field service and temperature. It also works with Fieldpiece accessory head instruments and includes a host of safety features, detachable leads, and warnings.
Like all of our instruments, we designed this meter exclusively fit the way you do your job. We took out some of “nice to have” features of the top of the line model to give you the option of manual ranging and spending a little less.
