Description
Automatically conduct the Energy Measurement Test in IEC 60601-1 Issue 3 Fig. 10
IEC 60601-1 Issue 3 Fig 10 and IEC 60601-2-27 require the energy dissipated in the DUT be less than 10% of the surge conducted in this defib-proof test. Up until now, no production equipment was available to provide this information. Now the energy can be determined with this Labview software and specially configured GPIB switchbox available from Compliance West.
Our solution requires a specific oscilloscope. With a data acquision card, Defib-5 pulses can be stored on the computer and recalled for later evaluation. See the Defib-5 Software Equipment Requirement List for more information. Installation information is available in our Defib-5 Software Installation and Operation Manual and our Defib-5 Software Installation Readme files.
Following is the screenshot of the User Screen. First, the user selects the polarity of the test waveform, and then sets the scope. When the scope is ready, a green light illuminates, alerting the user that he can go to the next step. Before the pulse is delivered, the user must switch the GPIB box to isolate the computer from the pulse, and the software prompts the user when that is to be done. After the user indicates that he has set the box correctly, the software prompts the user to manually trigger the Defib-5. The waveform is captured on the User Screen, and the power is joules is calculated and displayed on the Screen. If the user wishes, the waveform can then be saved. Previous waveforms can be recalled.
